Storyvine Storytelling Festival kicks off this week

CHARLOTTE, NC – Storyvine is a newly expanded annual storytelling festival involving Charlotte Mecklenburg Library staffers bringing the art of traditional storytelling into as many CMS schools as possible.

The WCCB team was invited to witness the art of traditional oral storytelling ahead of the festival at Trinity Episcopal School.

Trinity Episcopal is not part the of CMS schools where Storyvine will be provided this year however they are partners with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library.

Last year the staff of storytellers visited 38 CMS schools and provided the programs to more than 5,800 students.

The program’s footprint is expected to be even bigger this year with storytellers visiting 45 CMS schools. Storyvine will be offered for two days, May 7 and May 8.
