- Storm Chances Return MDW
Discussion:
Today will be warmer with humidity building as a warm front lifts north across the region. This will likely trigger a few scattered showers and storms this afternoon as highs top out in the mid 80s. A line of storms tracking ahead of a cold front will race towards the region late tonight, reaching the mountains between 11pm – 1am. There is a chance a few storms within this line could be severe with damaging wind, hail and an isolated tornado. The severe threat will weaken as the line pushes east, but localized flooding will become a bigger concern. The majority of showers and storms will clear out before the morning commute. Drier and cooler air will sweep into the region behind the front by Wednesday evening with highs still reaching the mid 80s and lows falling into the 50s to near 60. Thursday will be breezy, especially across the mountains with cooler and drier air setting up shop through the start of the weekend. Highs will only reach the mid 70s with lows falling into the 40s and 50s. Our next chance at rain and storms will arrive late Sunday into Memorial Day.
