Charlotte Checkers advance to Eastern Conference Finals of Calder Cup playoffs

The Charlotte Checkers are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals of the Calder Cup playoffs after defeating Hershey, the two-time defending champs, in a 3-0 series sweep.

The Checkers won 6-3 on the road Wednesday night, clinching the series after winning Games 1 and 2 at Bojangles Coliseum.

They will play the winner of Laval and Rochester. Laval leads that series 2-1 in a best of five.

This is the third time the Checkers have made it to the conference finals. The most recent was in 2019 when the Checkers won the Calder Cup.

Charlotte went 44-22-6 this season, finishing with 94 points, the second most in the Atlantic Division. They received a first-round bye and defeated Providence 3-2 in the second round.

Dates and times for the Eastern Conference Finals games will be announced when the Checkers’ opponent is determined.
