Charlotte man sentenced for assaulting postal carriers

CHARLOTTE, NC – A Charlotte man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by three years of probation after he assaulted two U.S. Postal Service mail carriers.

U.S. Attorney for the Western District, Russ Ferguson, announced the sentence for 39-year-old Dujuan McNeil on Wednesday.

Prosecutors say McNeil used guns to threaten two mail carriers on June 1, 2023. They say in both instances he used his car to block a mail truck.

According to court records, McNeil believed someone with the post office stole an unidentified item from his package. McNeil also went to a local post office to complain. Clerks at that office told investigators that McNeil said he would kill whichever carrier was responsible for the alleged theft.

Law enforcement executed a search warrant at McNeil’s home and say they found several firearms, including a ghost gun with an extended magazine, and an AR15 semi-automatic rifle.

State records show McNeil is a convicted felon and should not have had any firearms.

McNeil pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in October of 2024.

Previous convictions include possession of a firearm by a felon, discharge of a weapon into occupied property, and violation of domestic violence protective order.
