2nd suspect charged in deadly Salisbury shooting
UPDATE:
SALISBURY, NC – A second suspect is in jail charged in connection to the murder of an 18-year-old in Salisbury.
Police were called to a home on Tilman Street around 2:30 a.m. on February 20, 2025.
They found Emmanuel Houston, Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound and tried to save him, but he died at the scene.
Police served murder warrants on 18-year-old Jamarion Proffitt on Thursday.Β He was already in the Rowan County Detention Center charged with another shooting that happened in January.
Proffitt is being held without bond.
The other suspect is 21-year-old Shykiem Verdell.Β He’s charged with first degree murder and is being held in the Davidson County Detention Center under no bond.

SALISBURY, NC – An 18-year-old is dead following a shooting early Thursday morning in Salisbury.
Police were called to a home on Tilman Street around 2:30 a.m.
