CMPD arrests man they say is seen on video trying to strangle an Uber driver

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have arrested a man who they say was caught on camera attacking his Uber driver.

The attack happened earlier this month in Uptown. Police say Sean Smith attacked Osvaldo Rivera from the back seat. Smith is charged with strangulation and two counts of simple assault.

Police say Smith also attacked a law enforcement officer when he got out of the Uber at the transit center. Smith is out of jail on $15,000 bond.
