Road rage incident spills off of I-77, leads to shooting in Statesville neighborhood
STATESVILLE, N.C. – The search continues for a suspect after a road rage incident ends in a shootout. It happened around two Thursday afternoon in a Statesville neighborhood. That neighborhood is near I-77, on Wall Street. Investigators towed a car away from the scene that was riddled with bullets. Police were there for hours, canvasing the area for evidence. A woman who lives in that neighborhood says she was in her house when bullets started flying. She says, “I heard the gunfire down the street, so I came out on the porch and I saw people running. It was pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow.”
That neighbor tells us that this shooting is a one off, and that she does not fear for her safety. She says, “We never have any problem over here. I have good neighbors. It’s quiet. Nobody bothers (anyone). Everybody knows everybody.”
