2 arrested at Randolph Middle School, accused of attacking staff & trespassing

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A mother is facing charges after warrants say she attacked the principal of Randolph Middle School and choked the superintendent. The incident happened on May 5. Police arrested and charged Mariah Hector with assaulting a school employee and second-degree trespassing. According to an affidavit, Hector and other family members went to the school after Hector’s daughter called and said she got into a fight. Hector reportedly got hostile with school staff, pushed past an employee and shoved Principal Jennifer Schroeder into a wall. The police report also says she grabbed Superintendent Jennifer Dean with both hands around her neck and attempted to choke her. That situation caused the school to go on lockdown. We reached out to CMS for comment. We have not yet heard back.

On the same day that Hector allegedly attacked staff members, a second person was also charged with trespassing at the school. Trinity Nixon is charged with second-degree trespassing. Court documents say Nixon entered the school after she was told not to by a school employee. That employee said once she was inside, Nixon started yelling and cursing.

These two arrests come as CMS announced that Randolph Middle School Principal Jennifer Schroder has been suspended with pay. The details surrounding her suspension have not been made public.
