WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — Benny and Keva Messer walked into their new, two-bedroom home built by Samaritan’s Purse staff and volunteers only 6 months after their storm-ravaged home of 47 years was torn down.

Keva wiped away tears of joy as she walked through her home with family and close friends.

“We’re so blessed. I met so many volunteers that I fell in love with. They feel like family. All of this is just so amazing. I hardly have words to describe it,” said Keva.

After losing nearly everything to the floodwaters of Hurricane Helene while battling cancer, the couple remained steadfast in their faith.

“I couldn’t be happier than I am today for what God has done for us and what He has provided us,” shared Benny. “We’re home again.”

Their new home and furniture were provided at no cost to the family as part of the Samaritan’s Purse Helene Rebuild program.

Samaritan’s Purse remains committed to repair and replace hundreds of homes that were damaged or destroyed—providing safe, permanent housing solutions as well as new furniture for both renters and homeowners in need. To apply for assistance and learn more, visit SamaritansPurse.org/HeleneRebuild
