Sticky & stormy into Father’s Day weekend
The highest humidity levels we've seen all year settle into the Carolinas over the next several days.
Rain chances are back on the rise after a quiet Wednesday for most of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as a stalled front disintegrates over the Carolinas. Pop-up afternoon scattered storms are in the forecast through Father’s Day weekend as highs hover around the mid-to-upper 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills. While the heat will be manageable, the humidity becomes downright atrocious. Dew points will surge into the 70s for most of our area, bringing us some of the muggiest air we’ve seen in 2025 so far; no meaningful relief is in sight, either.
Our next significant rainmaking system arrives by Father’s Day Sunday as a weak disturbance skirts by us to the north. While Dad’s big day won’t be a washout, scattered-to-numerous thunderstorms will fire up in the afternoon and evening. More stable air returns to the Carolinas by Tuesday, but isolated storm chances linger well into next week. The heat cranks up another step further next week, as well; highs will likely hover around 90° in the Queen City between next Monday and Friday.
Friday: Mostly cloudy with scattered PM stoms. High: 84°. Wind: SW 5-10
Friday Night: Another muggy night. Low: 72°. Wind: SW 5-10.
Saturday: Partly sunny with scattered PM storms. High: 86°. Wind: SW 5-15.
