GASTONIA, NC – A man is in custody in Rutherford County, accused of shooting a convenience store clerk in Gastonia and a second shooting at a gathering in Forest City.

Police say the first shooting happened Friday afternoon at Jacob’s Food Mart on South Marietta Street.

Christian Campbell is accused of walking into the store and shooting 56-year-old Scottie Floyd in the arm without making any demands, according to police.

Investigators say Campbell then took off in a 2019 Honda Civic.

According to Forest City Police, Campbell is accused of shooting a man Friday night at a gathering of car enthusiasts

Police arrested Campbell on Saturday after a brief standoff. He’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury and discharge of a firearm within an enclosure to incite fear.

He is being held in the Rutherford County detention center.

Campbell’s girlfriend is charged with aid and abet assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

According to records from the NC Department of Adult Corrections, Campbell is a convicted felon with convictions dating back to 2013.
