GASTONIA, NC – A 21-year-old driver is charged with Felony Death by Mother Vehicle, DUI, Failing to Stop at a Steady Red Signal, and Reckless Driving after a crash that killed a woman in Gastonia Monday night.

The wreck happened around 9:45 pm at the intersection of East Hudson Boulevard and Gaston Day School Road.

Police say Logan Taylor, of Huntersville, was speeding down Armstrong Park Road with the headlights of his car off.

Investigators say Taylor ran through the red light at East Hudson and Gaston Day and hit the driver’s side of a car driven by 45-year-old Rashonda Greene of Gastonia.

Green died from her injuries.

“This tragic incident is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly lives can be lost when alcohol and reckless driving are involved,” said Gastonia Police Chief Trent Conard. “Drinking and driving is not just illegal – it’s deadly. We urge everyone to think before they get behind the wheel impaired. One poor decision can destroy lives.”

Taylor and his 18-year-old brother were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
