Shooting threat leads to lockdown of Lincolnton businesses and city offices
UPDATE: 8:30PM 6/17/25
Lincolnton Police Chief, Brian Greene, says Jerrod Moore called a local news station around 9:30 Tuesday morning claiming he was coming to downtown Lincolnton to shoot people. Officers went door to door, letting businesses know to lock their doors.
“I was just in DC and they didn’t have issues up there and I come home and now the city is shut down,” said business owner Carol Lee Self.
Self said what happened Tuesday morning made her nervous as the search for Moore lasted almost four hours.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in sleepy little Lincolnton. I expect it in the big cities, but not here,” explained Self.
Lincolnton PD says Moore was downtown a couple of hours before he made the threatening call. It was here on Sycamore Street where he’s accused of firing multiple rounds to the ground.
Moore was arrested on Ironton Place in Iron Station. Police say he was in his car with a gun when they found him.
He’s been charged with possession of a gun by a felon, Going Armed to the Terror of the Public and a firing a gun in the City Limits.
