Belmont’s K9 Saro receives body armor donation in honor of fallen K9 Blitz
Belmont Police’s K9 Saro received a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a donation from a non-profit organization.
Vested Interest in K9s donated the vest in honor of K9 Blitz, who was killed during an attempt to arrest a suspect in April. The vest is embroidered with “In memory of K9 Blitz, Wadesboro, NC – EOW 4/2/25.”
Vested Interest in K9s was founded in 2009 and has provided over 6,120 vests to K9s across all 50 states. The program is open to U.S. dogs at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement agencies.
Each vest is valued at $1,800, weighs approximately 4-5 pounds, and comes with a five-year warranty.
