New park in Uptown Charlotte officially opens this weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – People living in or visiting Uptown will soon have a new park to enjoy this summer. McColl Park officially opens this weekend on South Tryon Street.

Park designer Walter Hood is from Charlotte. He says, “In a lot of our work, whether it’s art, whether it’s landscape, we try to change the sociology of places. Watching people come out by having to move around the fountain and looking down and looking up, they now see Charlotte in a completely different way.”

The park is just a few blocks away from Romare Bearden Park and Bank of America Stadium.
