CLT receiving $21.5M grant for new runway
Charlotte-Douglas is getting more than $21 million from the FAA to help pay for a new runway.
Republican U.S. Senator Thom Tillis announced the grant on Friday.
Tillis says the money will be used to build a 10,000-foot runway to help reduce delays and accommodate more aircraft operations.
βCharlotte Douglas continues to be one of the busiest airports in the world, and as air traffic increases, we must work to ensure airplanes have minimal delays,β said Senator Tillis. βThis grant to construct a new 10,000-foot runway will significantly reduce congestion, improve operations, and enhance the overall travel experience for millions of passengers who rely on Charlotte as transportation hub.β
The grant comes from the FAAβs Airport Improvement Program for the 2025 Fiscal Year.
