Lights out on US74 headed into Uptown, NCDOT says they think they know why

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – We are working to get answers about a stretch of lights along US 74 that have been out for weeks. It’s near the Hawthorne Bridge, right before you get into Uptown.

We noticed three weeks ago that about a mile worth of lights have been out, making the road dark and dangerous to drive.

We asked NCDOT, and they tell us they are aware of some malfunctioning lights in the area. They say some of the wiring may have been damaged during construction of the Hawthorne Lane Bridge.

Repairs are scheduled for later this summer.
