NC Sheriff charged with sexual battery and solicitation

SWAIN CO,. N.C – The Sheriff of Swain County, North Carolina is under arrest, charged with sexual battery and solicitation.

72-year-old Curtis Cochran was arrested Friday. He’s facing four state charges and three charges under the Cherokee Code, including two for “oppression in office.”

Under state law, the chief deputy will now serve as acting sheriff while the vacancy is being filled.
