15-year-old boy makes history as one of youngest students to enroll as an incoming freshman at JCSU
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three Charlotte brothers are all heading to Johnson C. Smith University this fall, and one of them is just 15-years-old. Meet Josiah, Zechariah and Isaiah Matthews. 15-year-old Josiah skipped multiple grades at Matthews Intellectual Academy to jump into computer science at Johnson C. Smith. He makes history as one of the youngest students to enroll as an incoming freshman.
Now, he and his two 17-year-old brothers, who are twins, will begin their higher education journey together.
Josiah says, “It’s really an accomplishment. And, you know, other kids can look back on this and it can maybe motivate them.”
Over the summer, the three brothers are participating in the “Becoming Kings” program, which provides mentorship and skills to become prepared academically and professionally for the future.
