2025 municipal election filing opens for candidates

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2025 campaign season is officially underway in North Carolina. On Monday, filing for the 2025 municipal elections opened.

Candidates for positions like Charlotte City Council and Mayor can now submit their paperwork and fees. The filing period runs through next Friday, the 18th, at noon.

Among the candidates we saw Monday filing for re-election was Matthews Mayor John Higdon.
