CMPD investigating deadly hit-and-run

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD is investigating a deadly hit and run in north Charlotte. It happened on North Tryon Street just before one Saturday morning.

Police say they found 74-year-old Ace Chambers dead, lying in the road. Investigators believe the hit-and-run driver also hit another car that stayed at the scene. It was heavily damaged, and had three people inside. The driver of that vehicle, 35-year-old Willie Sturdivant, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired.

Now, CMPD is asking anyone with information on who the hit-and-run driver may be to call Crimestoppers.
