NC Gov: Everyone can help restore tourism to WNC post-Helene by spending a weekend there

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – North Carolina Governor Josh Stein visited Asheville on Monday as part of an effort to restore tourism in the area following the devastation brought on by Hurricane Helene. Stein says the state is still working to address recovery-related issues across the western part of the state, including problems with housing, infrastructure and providing long-term funding relief. But it’s not just lawmakers in Raleigh who can help.

Stein says, “The one thing that all North Carolinians can do, you don’t have to be governor to do it, is just spend a weekend out here. If there’s a town that you have loved, come back and stay at a hotel, go to your favorite restaurant, take your favorite hike, there’s so much that’s unforgettable.”

The latest Helene relief bill was just passed last month, bringing in $575 million in new relief funding.
