Rain chances fall, temperatures rise
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor an area of low pressure in the northern Gulf for tropical development.
Happy Hump Day! Clouds and storms kept temperatures a bit cooler in the mid-to-lower 90s Tuesday afternoon after topping out at 97° and 98° in the Queen City on Sunday and Monday, respectively, but the heat is back on as rain chances dwindle into the back half of the week. A strong Bermuda High will build toward the Southeast over the coming days, allowing for plentiful sunshine while keeping storms isolated through the back half of the workweek. A sluggish front will stall to our north by the start of the weekend, which could provide more opportunities for storms on Saturday and Sunday, but most locations in the WCCB Charlotte viewing area remain dry for the majority of the next five days.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) continues to monitor an area of low pressure in the northeast Gulf for potential tropical development. The budding system has tracked farther north than most models were predicting so far, which has hampered its growth as it interacts with land. That said, the NHC still gives the storm a 40% chance of getting a name over the next 48 hours. Regardless of development, heavy rain is in the forecast for the central Gulf Coast, and some leftover moisture from this system could end up in the Carolinas by the start of next week. The next name on the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season list is Dexter.
