Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles files for re-election

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles has officially filed for re-election. Lyles was first elected to the city’s top office back in 2017. If she’s elected again, she’ll serve a fifth term.

Mayor Lyles says if voters bring her back, she’ll keep trying to improve life for Charlotteans. Lyles says, “We are never going to give up on affordable housing and opportunities for people to have a place to live. We’re never going to give up on trying the idea of, how do we have a safe community for people to be able to walk around and feel like that they can be comfortable where we are.”

Before becoming Mayor, Lyles served in an at-large seat on the Charlotte City Council, as the city’s budget director, and assistant city manager.
