STATESVILLE, NC – A death investigation is underway after skeletonized human remains were found behind a home in Statesville.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says detectives were called to the home on Newton Drive on Wednesday after someone found what appeared to be human remains.
Detectives located the remains and say they believe the person had been dead for a while.
No other information about the person or exactly where behind the home they were found has been released.
An autopsy and medical examination are scheduled for later this week.
