Human skeletal remains found behind Statesville home

UPDATE (07/21/25):

Human remains found behind a home in Statesville have now been identified.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says on July 16, 2025, a 911 call was made by a person interested in buying property at 2336 Newton Drive in Statesville.

The Sheriff’s office says the 911 caller told them they thought the home was abandoned and they found the remains in the driveway near a carport.

Investigators say they were not able to identify the body at the home because of decomposition.

The remains were sent to Baptist Hospital for an autopsy.

On Friday, medical records helped identify the deceased as 50-year-old Kevin Scott Queen, of Statesville.

The Sheriff’s Office says Queen’s death was determined to be from natural causes.
