CMPD identifies officer shot in the leg in Uptown, suspected shooter charged with attempted first degree murder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – WCCB News @ Ten is learning more about the shooting of a CMPD officer in uptown Charlotte earlier this month.

The department has now identified the officer shot in the leg as Officer Daryl Napper. Napper was shot during an altercation with a suspect early in the morning on Sunday, July 6th.

20-year-old Demetrius Bristow is charged with attempted first degree murder in the case. Officer Napper, a nearly three-year veteran of the department, is expected to be OK.
