NC Congresswoman leads letter demanding release of $5.5B in approved education funds
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Democrats are hoping a strongly worded letter will force the release of $5.5 billion in approved education funds that the Trump Administration is currently withholding. North Carolina Congresswoman Alma Adams led the letter, signed by 93 other House Dems. Thursday’s letter is a follow-up to the first letter sent on July 10th.
Adams says Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools are owed $12 million of that money, and without it they may have to fire teachers and cut back on programs for kids. Adams says, “I don’t care who you are, where you live. Everybody is concerned about their children. And we should be.”
Adams says if this letter doesn’t work, she thinks the next step will be Congress putting together a bipartisan group to talk with House Speaker Mike Johnson.
