Mooresville woman arrested for kidnapping her 4-year-old child

A Mooresville woman was arrested after being accused of kidnapping her four-year-old child on Thursday, according to the Mooresville Police Department.

The child was in the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services but was staying with a relative. The child’s mother, 30-year-old Haley Ervin, went to the residence and took the child without permission, officials said.

On Friday, detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Rowan County where both Ervin and the child were found.

Ervin has been charged with first degree kidnapping. She is being held at the Iredell County Jail without bond.

The child was returned to the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services, officials said.
