Second teen charged in deadly shooting of 15-year-old in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – A second teenager is charged with murder in the shooting death of 15-year-old Avion Dingle in northeast Charlotte, according to police.

Detectives were called about shots fired at an apartment complex on Merrick Street near North Tryon Street around 11:30 p.m. on June 26th.

When they arrived, they found Dingle shot to death.

CMPD says its Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested a 16-year-old suspect on Tuesday.

The teen is charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and shooting into occupied dwelling.

VCAT arrested the first suspect, a 15-year-old, on July 10th. That teen is also charged with murder.
