MATTHEWS, NC – A man is wanted for assaulting his girlfriend and then forcing her into his car in Matthews.
Police say they were called to the area of E. Independence Boulevard and Windsor Square Drive around 7 p.m. on Monday.
Officers spotted the car a short time later, but the driver would not stop. Police say the driver hit a Matthews Police cruiser before stopping and running from the car in a parking lot on E. Independence Boulevard.
The suspect, identified as Montroy Mabry ran into nearby woods and got away.
Police found the woman inside the car and paramedics took her to the hospital.
There are warrants out for Mabry’s arrest on charges of first degree kidnapping, flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting a public officer.
Mabry is also wanted for crimes in Pitt County and Perquimans County.
