Stepfather shoots stepson in Burke County

An investigation is underway after deputies say a stepfather shot his stepson.

It happened earlier this week at a home on Conley Bumgarner Road.

Investigators believe 28-year-old Wesley Whisenant hit his stepfather, 51-year-old Bobby Allen Jr.. The two got into a fight, leading Whisenant to assault Allen, resulting in Allen shooting his stepson.

Both men were taken to the hospital to receive additional care.

There’s no word yet on whether any charges will be filed.
