CHARLOTTE, NC – A National Night Out event planned for Tuesday night in Uptown Charlotte has been postponed because of the forecasted rain.
The event will now be held at Victoria Yards on August 12th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Charlotte Center City Partners and CMPD are hosting the event promoting community safety.
People have the opportunity to meet local community officers, learn about safety programs, play games, listen to music and enjoy food and refreshments.
Vendors will include CMPD, Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, DA’s Office, Vision Zero, CDOT, Oak Street Health, Starbucks, Icy Paradice, Books on the House, Uptown and South End, and more.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign held on the first Tuesday of August in cities nationwide.
It began in 1984 in the suburbs of Pennsylvania with neighbors turning on their porch lights, sitting in front of their homes and getting to know local community police officers.
