Rain causes damage around Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – Wet roads turned to flooded ones. In south Charlotte yards looked more like ponds Tuesday morning.

Causing a street to shut down for hours next to Sugar Creek.

To no one’s surprise, the road under the N Tryon bridge flooded. Leaving cars stranded and tow truck drivers busy.

Flooding at the Arrowood Mobile Home Park is unfortunately all too common. Once again, residents along John Price Rd in Steele Creek had to wait it out until the water receded.

Charlotte saw about 2.5 inches of rain in parts of the city on Tuesday. It was enough water to loosen the roots, causing massive trees to fall, like one in Cotswold. Diverting traffic hours until crews could clear it.

Some trees toppled power lines like here in east Charlotte. Duke energy says thousands of customers lost power around the city. Somehow this tree missed power lines, cars, homes and people. The fall was caught on camera just before lunch time.
