CHARLOTTE, NC – A volunteer CMS middle school football coach is out of jail on bond, charged with indecent liberties with a student, according to police.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested 22-year-old Shy’mere Simms on Wednesday.
He’s accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy on Monday in north Charlotte.
According to court documents, the boy told his mother that Simms sent him a Snapchat saying he was in his neighborhood.
The boy says he met Simms who was in a gold SUV, and that Simms gave him a handshake from the SUV and then forced the boy’s hand down his pants.
Court documents say Simms worked as a behavioral modification technician at Alexander Graham Middle School, where the boy goes to school, until he was terminated in June 2025.
Detectives say Simms is currently a volunteer coach at Kennedy Middle School in Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed that Simms worked at Alexander Graham Middle, and that he has been suspended with pay.
