Fall feels continue
Rain chances remain at bay through the remainder of the workweek, although a stray shower may find its way into the Metro on Friday.
Happy Hump Day! Many locations are waking up to the coolest morning we’ve seen in nearly four months as lows dip into the 40s and 50s across the board. Temperatures will quickly rebound near 80Β° this Wednesday afternoon around the Metro, but the chilly start will keep highs about 5-10Β° below normal for this time of year. Expect more of the same on Thursday, although the return of southerly winds will bump temperatures into the mid-to-lower 80s for our penultimate day of the workweek. Friday will feel more like summer for much of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area as highs rise into the mid-80s across the Piedmont and Foothills, but another cold front will quickly squash any hopes of a prolonged warm-up through August’s final days. A stray shower could find its way into the western half of the Carolinas on Friday as the cold front passes through, but most communities will remain dry through the remainder of the workweek.
The passing front will eventually lead to another fall-like cooldown, but medium-range models are confident highs will at least rise into the mid-to-lower 80s in the Queen City this weekend. Unfortunately, this front won’t do as good of a job as the last one when it comes to clearing out the moisture. Isolated rain chances linger through much of the weekend as high pressure sets up to our north, potentially leading to a classic Carolina wedge as we move into next week. Some models are suggesting much of our area doesn’t clear 70Β° on Labor Day Monday and Tuesday – something to watch as we round into September.
