Comedian Jon Reep facing felony sexual exploitation of a minor charges in Hickory

HICKORY, N.C. — Comedian Jon Reep, a Hickory native, is facing numerous felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, according to Hickory Police.

The Hickory Police Department says they received an Internet Crimes Against Children cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that concerned child sexual abuse material.

During the initial investigation, authorities say it was discovered that the account associated with the cyber tip belonged to Jonathan David Reep, 53, of Hickory. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at the location linked to the IP address from the cyber tip, according to a news release.

Investigators say electronic devices were seized during the execution of the search warrant and digital forensic analysis of these devices and other online communications were completed.

Detectives say they submitted the case to the Catawba County District Attorney’s office and a true bill indictment was issued on September 2nd.

Reep is facing the following charges:

• Second Degree Sexual Exploitation Of Minor (One Count)
• Third Degree Sexual Exploitation Of Minor (Nine Counts)

Police say Reep was arrested on September 5th. He received a $260,000 secured bond and was transported to the Catawba County Detention Facility, according to a news release.
