Iredell County man facing ten felony charges of sexual exploitation of a minor

HARMONY, N.C. — Authorities say a CyberTip led to the arrest of a man from Harmony for numerous felony sexual exploitation of a minor charges.

On February 21, 2025, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says they received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip allegedly contained 27 files of suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The case was immediately assigned to Detective Lane of the Special Victims Unit.

Detective Lane secured a search warrant for the suspect’s Dropbox account, the platform identified in the CyberTip, according to authorities. Investigators say additional files of CSAM were discovered after executing the search warrant. From there, detectives say they conducted forensic analysis on electronic devices, reviewed digital evidence, and traced the suspect’s online activity.

Due to the evidence compiled during the investigation, Detective Lane obtained a warrant for the arrest of Jonathan Reeves on 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, according to a news release.

On September 4, authorities say Deputy Robbins of the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Service Unit located Reeves and executed the arrest. Reeves was transported to the Special Victims Unit, where he was interviewed by Detective Lane and provided a full confession, according to a news release.

Reeves was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where Magistrate M. Nethken issued a $100,000.00 secured bond, according to a news release. The investigation remains active and investigations say additional charges are expected as detectives continue reviewing evidence and pursuing leads.
