Arrest made in Waxhaw bank robbery

Police in Waxhaw say they have caught a bank robber.

Officers say 30-year-old Diamonte Williams walked into the State Employees’ Credit Union on South Providence Road Thursday afternoon and handed the teller a note demanding cash, which he was given before he drove off.

Detectives tracked Williams down Friday morning and arrested him.

He’s facing charges for common law robbery and felony larceny. He’s being held at the Union County Jail.
