CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Sugar Creek Charter School bus driver is facing numerous charges for allegedly sexually assaulting two teens, according to a news release from CMPD.
Authorities say they arrested Leetwain Darrell Tate, 48, following an investigation for crimes against children. The victims in the case are 14-years-old and 15-years-old, according to investigators.
Police say Tate is also known as “Sharon” or “Ms. Sharon.” Detectives believe there could be more victims and are urging parents to talk to their children.
Tate was arrested on Tuesday, September 30th by CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT). She was interviewed by detectives and then charged with the following:
- Statutory Rape (two counts)
- Indecent Liberties with a Minor (six counts)
- Statutory Sex Offense (one count)
Tate is now in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Tate was suspended by the school during the investigation and then terminated on September 29th, according to a news release.
Police say preliminary information indicates that these incidents did not occur on school property or while Tate was operating a school bus.
Anyone who may have been a victim regardless of the date of the incident is urged to contact Detective King at 704-336-7495.
