Alluring start to October
Wind chills may dip in the 30s and 40s across the board as we wake up Thursday morning.
Happy Hump Day! It’s also the first day of October; the new month gets off to a warm start, but chilly mornings lurk ahead as we close out the workweek. Highs surge near 80° this Wednesday afternoon across the Piedmont and Foothills as mostly sunny skies regain a foothold in the Carolinas. Enjoy Wednesday’s warmth while it lasts – wind chills may dip into the 30s and 40s as we wake up Thursday morning, thanks to a strong ridge of high pressure to our north pumping much cooler air in our direction. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the mid-70s around the Metro for the final two days of the workweek.
Warmer weather returns this weekend across the board as highs once again rise near 80° in the Queen City on Saturday and Sunday. Rain chances largely remain at bay over the next five days. Our next significant opportunity for rain doesn’t arrive until Monday at the earliest as hurricanes Humberto & Imelda continue to swirl away from the Carolinas.
