Man charged in Hickory shooting

HICKORY, N.C. – A 48-year-old man was arrested following an investigation into a shooting in Hickory earlier this week, according to the Hickory Police Department.

The shooting happened at Glenwood Commons on Tuesday around 11:15 p.m. 

When officers arrived, police said they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were treated and released from a local hospital.

Throughout the investigation, police said they learned that 48-year-old Tyraun Clark forcefully entered a known person’s apartment and fired several rounds. Clark left the apartment and fired more rounds as he was leaving, police said.

Clark was taken into custody after a traffic stop on Wednesday. He was charged with the following:

  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury
  • Discharging a Weapon into Occupied Property, 4 counts
  • First Degree Burglary
  • Assault With a Deadly Weapon
  • Discharging a Firearm within enclosure to incite fear, 5 counts
  • Crime of Domestic Violence

Clark is being held without bond at the Catawba County Detention facility.
