Owner of infamous Uptown Charlotte night club pulls his liquor license

CHARLOTTE, NC — An infamous Uptown Charlotte nightclub no longer has it’s liquor license.Β  this comes after 3 people were shot and killed at or near Brooklyn Lounge in the past few months..

Gabriel Cosey was one of the victims. His mom, Nekisha Cosey, told WCCB the NCΒ Alcoholic BeverageΒ ControlΒ Commission called her on Tuesday to personally tell her Brooklyn Lounge’s owner, Donovan McGeachy, pulled his own liquor license.

While Cosey said she’s happy about the license being pulled, she’s still worried McGeachy will reapply for a license at a different location.

“You’re going to take the crowd from 225 North Caldwell, and you’re going to move that crowd to another location with the same antics. Unfortunately, if they allow him to have another permit for another location, somebody else’s mother is going to be grieving, such as myself,” Cosey explained.

Gabriel Cosey’s killer has still not been caught. Nekisha Cosey remains confident CMPD will make an arrest in the case.

We reached out to McGeachy asking why he pulled the license.Β  He did not respond.
