Stem Cell Awareness Day: saving a life starts with a cheek swab
CHARLOTTE, NC- Project Life is a national movement to increase the potential pool of bone marrow and tissue donors by testing and registering college students with a simple cheek swab.
Bone marrow treatments are the only hope for many people diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia and other blood cancers and diseases.
The need is clear, 60 percent of those in need of a life-giving donation currently canβt find a donor match.
It takes only minutes to get tested and registered, and itβs simple, painless and non-invasive.
We spoke with Ben Sheets, a student at Queens City University about discovering he was a possible perfect match for a cancer patient.
