Stupendous stretch continues
Another round of patchy frost arrives in the High Country come Friday morning.
Happy Hump Day! Get ready for another wonderful Wednesday as sunny skies and highs near 80° continue their reign over the Queen City. Expect a slight pattern change by the end of the week as a dry, but sharp, cold front slices into the Carolinas from the north by Thursday morning. The cold air won’t rush in all at once, but highs will struggle to get above 75° for the final two days of the workweek across the Piedmont and Foothills. Patchy frost is on the table for High Country communities above 3500′ as lows dip into the 30s, 40s, and lower 50s across the board Friday morning.
While temperatures fluctuate to close out the workweek, the sunshine remains constant into the first half of the weekend. Highs will once again rise near 80° around the Metro on Saturday as warmer winds surge in from the southwest ahead of another cold front. Unlike the one arriving on Thursday, the weekend’s front will bring showers and storms to much of the Southeast. The incoming system could generate a few strong/severe storms west of the Appalachians, but models are divided on how strong it will be as it sweeps into the Carolinas. The American model keeps us largely dry through the weekend as the mountains weaken the front, while the European model keeps strong storms on the table for the WCCB Charlotte viewing area Sunday evening. Stay weather-wise – we’ll keep you posted.
