CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools employee is facing a felony charge after allegedly attacking her husband with a knife, police said.
Chandraprabha Singh, 44, is accused of slicing her husband in the neck with a knife during an argument while she was cooking breakfast, according to a CMPD police report.
Singh, according to the report, claims the assault was an accident.
Officers were called to an apartment complex on Foxhaven Drive over the weekend for an assault with a deadly weapon call, the police report states. The victim told officers his wife attacked him with a knife.
Singh reportedly told officers she was getting ready to make breakfast when her husband asked if he could help. She said she was upset because her husband had not cleaned the house. Singh said she then went back to cooking and accidentally sliced her husband in the neck when she turned around with the knife in her hand, the arrest report states.
However, her husband told an officer at the hospital that his wife was frustrated and purposely attacked him with the knife, according to the police report.
Police said the assault did not happen on school property and did not involve any students, teachers or staff.
WCCB has reached out to CMS about Singh’s current employment status.
