βROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles today closed the license plate agency, or LPA, in Harrisburg.
The current agency, located at 4612 N.C. Hwy. 49 S., at Bestway Center, in Harrisburg, was closed following the discovery of several contract violations. In North Carolina, NCDMV oversees LPAs, but the agencies are managed by private businesses or local governments. The Harrisburg agency had been operated by Sara James since 2012.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 131 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
Four nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday:
β’ Concord, 929-D Concord Pkwy. S., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Clear Springs Plaza)
β’ Kannapolis, 1509 Dale Earnhardt Blvd., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
β’ East Charlotte, 5309-E East Independence Blvd., from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (Independence Promenade Shopping Center)
β’ Huntersville Express, 12101 Mount Holly-Huntersville Rd., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (no title transactions)
