WILBAR, N.C. β One person died and another was critically injured from a crash in Wilkes County on Wednesday morning, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
It happened around 7 a.m. on NC 16 near Grindstone Lane. Troopers said a Honda CR-V was traveling north on NC 16 when it collided head-on with a southbound Subaru.Β
The Honda driver, 53-year-old Kelly Holleman, was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
The Subaru driver, 61-year-old Laurie Christine, was critically injured and transported by medical helicopter to a Winston-Salem hospital. No update has been given on her current condition.
The highway patrol said neither impairment nor speed were contributing factors. No charges will be filed in this case, troopers said.
