Police arrest 3 following kidnapping, robbery, and chase in Hickory
HICKORY, N.C. (News Release) — The Hickory Police Department is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Sheetz convenience store located at 2387 Springs Road in Hickory on Monday, October 27, 2025.
Hickory Officers responded to reports of an armed robbery shortly after 4 a.m. where four subjects approached a male at the gas pumps and forced the victim into his vehicle. The four subjects entered the vehicle with the victim and drove the victim’s vehicle away from the scene. The subjects released the victim a short time later at a business near the original incident location.
The victim’s vehicle information was sent out over a “Be on the Lookout” (BOLO) and Rowan County Sheriff’s Deputies located the stolen vehicle in Rowan County a short time later. Three of the suspects were arrested following a brief vehicle pursuit.
Jalen Dontae Burnette, 19, of Winston-Salem, Devin Michael Carr, 20, of Hickory, and Bryan Galvan Ugalde, 22, of Hickory, were all charged with Robbery with a Firearm, Second-degree Kidnapping, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Larceny of a Firearm.
All three subjects are being held at the Catawba County Detention Facility under no bond.
