Fire crews work to rescue horses in overturned trailer

Charlotte Fire crews spent several hours working to rescue horses after a trailer overturned in northwest Charlotte.

This happened just after 8:30 p.m. Friday night on Brookshire Boulevard near Carothers Street.

Firefighters say that the trailer fell around 25 feet down an embankment.

One horse was successfully freed, but two other horses died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
